Giveaway: Science in the Beginning

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to review this new elementary science curriculum by Dr. Jay Wile, published by Berean Builders.  While I really enjoyed the text and format of this introductory science course, my children are now in High School so I have no need for it. :-(

If you’re looking for a great resource to get your elementary students started in science, this is a wonderful introduction to many different areas. The book visits the seven days of creation, as your child spirals through everything from the properties of light and water to animals and people.

You can read my full review right here on Mindful Ramblings.

This is sure to be a popular giveaway, so enter as many times as you are able.

What do I like best about homeschooling? FREEDOM! Freedom to choose which curriculum items work best with which child. Freedom of going outside on a beautiful day and doing the work on Saturday. Freedom to go on field trips that are of interest to them. I could go on and on and one.

What do I like best about homeschooling? I really enjoying seeing us as a family make connections from the things we are learning in ‘school’ to the things we experience in day to day life.

Great answer! I love that too! :-)

The best things about homeschooling are the freedom to move at my kids’ pace, and the freedom to choose our own curriculum.

  5. #6 by Clara @A Slice of Homeschool Pie on February 7, 2014 - 9:12 am

I love being able to ruffle my children’s hair anytime I want. :-) Besides that, I enjoy having the opportunity to have spontaneous conversations with them throughout my day.

I love being with my family best!

What I like best about homeschooling is that my three children have become best friends. By not being in separate classrooms most of their waking hours, they are together more and have grown really close. =)

  8. #9 by Marsha Nixon on February 7, 2014 - 9:34 am

    Lots of field trips.

  10. #11 by Caroline on February 7, 2014 - 10:12 am

What I like best about homeschooling is having a choice of what my daughter is taught. Also, I don’t have to go out in the cold if I don’t want to! :)

  11. #12 by Julieanne M. on February 7, 2014 - 12:13 pm

I hadn’t heard that Jay Wile had written a new elementary level science text, so this is exciting! :)

What I like best about homeschooling is watching my children learn. I also love the family bonds that are created. We enjoy discussing our subjects and new things we learn.

We love Dr. Wile ‘ s work! I have 7 children my oldest is graduating THIS Year! I would love to try this book with some of my younger kids. The best part of homeschooling for me is the moment when I see something”click” for them, and see their joy of learning!

The best thing about homeschooling is being to watch my own children learn the way that I enjoy teaching other children. I love allowing them to choose what they want to learn about.

We haven’t officially started homeschooling yet (my oldest turns 5 in July), but I’m really looking forward to spending more time with my precious kids, knowing what they’re learning, and having the freedom & flexibility that come with homeschooling.

  27. #28 by Bessie McClary on February 8, 2014 - 6:05 pm

I love getting the best part of my kids’ days! We share so many memories and learning moments we wouldn’t get if they were at school all day.

  28. #29 by Katrina on February 8, 2014 - 6:21 pm

There’s not one “best” thing about homeschooling… but one thing I do love is that we are together. My older children actually have a relationship with their younger siblings, and the little ones benefit so much from that (as do the older ones ;) )

  29. #30 by daddyozark on February 8, 2014 - 7:01 pm

I like the ability to direct my children’s upbringing in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

  30. #31 by Texas Momma on February 8, 2014 - 7:29 pm

What I like best about homeschooling is seeing that my kids act much more their age than their public school peers…..I was a public school teacher before I became a SAHM & the overly mature kids I taught was heartbreaking sometimes =(

  31. #32 by Tami S. on February 8, 2014 - 7:56 pm

I think we will be using this book! I love the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling.

  32. #33 by Amy Dent Beebe on February 8, 2014 - 8:26 pm

Homeschooling has been the best change we made in our family. It has brought us closer together and given us the time we needed to be together. I couldn’t imagine anything else now. So blessed to be able to homeschool my four children!

My daughter would love to have this science curriculum. She is really getting into science lately. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  37. #38 by Heather Dubay on February 9, 2014 - 10:09 am

We LOVE science at our house and always enjoy trying new things. My favorite part of homeschool is just being free to be with my kids, to adjust school when needed, and to really be able to know my kids.

  40. #41 by Michelle in OK on February 11, 2014 - 3:37 pm

The best thing about homeschooling for me is seeing my children connect what they are learning to the other things they are learning and to life around them. Nothing is disconnected and isolated.
