Apologia Biology, Module 4: Kingdom Fungi

The photo above was taken in our backyard back in July 2010 during the rainy season and “cartoonized” on photobucket.com.   In the original photo below, you can see the stages of its growth from the small cap to the inverted cup.  Interesting!  I’m looking forward to learning more about Fungi in the next couple of weeks.  Follow the links to acquire more knowledge….

The Fungus Among Us – Lot’s of interesting facts, fungi lore, and projects

Fungus Opera! –  Cool microscopic video of the release of spores, set to opera music, of course! (Click last link on his page, “Behold”)

Bio-Art –  Mushroom Photography, among other things…

North American Mycological Association – This link is directed to their 2009 Photography Contest winners, but there is much, much more!  Be sure to check out their “education” section for books, projects, etc.

Don’t forget to check the Apologiawebsite for many more educational links for Module 4.  Before you go, take a look at this photo to see the stages of this beautiful specimen:

For fun, go take a hike, find some mushrooms and make a Spore Print.
