Apologia Biology: Module 5, The Chemistry of Life

Can you name that equation?

Wow!  This module is so full of information, I’m not sure I have the time to find enough links to cover everything….but here’s a start for you:

So how small IS an atom?  Check out this demonstration on Strange Matter

The BBC website has a wonderful education section.  Check out this section on

WebElements – Clickable Periodic Table of Elements

How Diffusion Works – Video from McGraw Hill

How Osmosis Works – Video from McGrawHill

Zooming in to DNA from Stanford at the Tech

Make an edible DNA Molecule, this pdf brought to you by the fine folks at the University of Utah (I originally came across the link to this at Applies blog.)

Not sure if you’d want or need this, but here’s a link to Jefferson Labs that has games for the Elements.

We are coming up on that module next week. Because we had a Fall Break, I only have one day to lecture on it. 😦 This module and the next one need extra time, I think. Thanks for the links. 🙂

You’re quite welcome Applie! Have fun with Module 5….I’m looking forward to doing 5.3 with them; thinking about making some kind of cute Biology apron for one lucky young man to wear in the kitchen while we make our pineapple jello! Then we may give Underwater Vocabulary a try!

I am so sorry you did not get a cup of tea from BBC. How rude.

The Atomic Structure, Zooming in to DNA and the Edible DNA molecule links are dead.
